I love our town. Why? As an example, I just had the most wonderful week.

Greenwich Town Party

The Greenwich Town Party  last Saturday was fabulous not only for the music and festivities but for running into friends, old and new, and neighbors, past and present.

Old Greenwich Memorial Day Parade

The OG Memorial Day Parade, Norman Rockwell in 3-D, was celebrated on a front porch on Sound Beach Avenue with dear friends who go back to one of my kid’s Kindergarten days over 20 years ago! The various local Fire Departments, the Sound Beach Community and Old Greenwich School Bands, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Cubs and Brownies, the Garden Club, and Old Greenwich Lions are among the many beloved community members honoring the memory of our fallen soldiers.

Greenwich International Film Festival

I volunteered for the Greenwich International Film Festival on Tuesday evening for their screening of the Entourage movie. The Film Festival has about 70 more events unfolding over the coming days with movies, shorts and feature length, and panels such as the “Sport Guys on Sports Films” with a reception following at Miller Motor Cars.

The Nantucket Project at Greenwich

Wednesday night found me at Greenwich Country Day School where the public was invited “to experience a taste of The Nantucket Project at a special event…with Senator George Mitchell and TNP All-Stars: Bob Diamond, Kelly Corrigan, Neil Phillips, Maureen Langan, Larry Lessig.” The evening was a live “TED Talk” style presentation which also included a clip produced by their TNP Labs about Richard Saul Wurman, the man who co-founded the TED Conferences. Topics of discussion ranged from the American voting system to race in America and closed with a hopeful outlook on the future from the former Senator. All of this merely a preluded to the main event in Nantucket, September 25th through the 27th, 2015.

Greenwich Events – More to Come!

2015 Greenwich Fireworks

There’s much more to come, of course.  On June 21st, from 1 to 4PM, Experience the Sound  sponsored by the Town of Greenwich Shellfish Commission has awesome activities from a free Raw Bar with Atlantic Clam Farms and Hemlock Oysters to a guided Historical Cycling Tour. It features the Soundwaters Schooner, a clam boat, and a Greenwich Police Boat.

Then there’s the quintessential summer celebration, Fourth of July Fireworks! With lawn chairs and blankets, picnics and parties, Binney Park and Tod’s Point (Greenwich Point) are great gathering spots for more community love and spirit. The Summer Concert Series held at various outdoor venues around town are sure to be a pleasant diversion throughout the summer.

Greenwich events – I can’t wait to see what the rest of summer brings!
